Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated: November 1, 2026
dtaas.com is for faxes people want to receive: documents, forms, letters, records. This policy is part of our Terms of Service. Breaking it can lead to a stopped fax, a closed account and, for some things, a report to the authorities.
1. No junk faxes
Federal law (the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, 47 U.S.C. § 227(b)(1)(C), and the FCC's rules at 47 CFR § 64.1200) prohibits sending unsolicited advertisements by fax. Penalties can be high: the law allows $500 per fax, tripled for willful violations, and the FCC can fine too. So on dtaas.com:
- Don't send advertisements or promotions to anyone who hasn't given you their prior express invitation or permission.
- Don't send the same or similar fax to many numbers (broadcasting, blasting or mass faxing), or use lists of numbers you bought, scraped or found.
- Even if a recipient asked for your advertisement, put a clear way to stop future faxes (a phone number or email address) on the first page, and honor every request. This is our own rule for dtaas.com, on top of what the law requires.
- If someone tells you to stop faxing them, stop. For advertisements the law requires it. For any other fax it is our rule for dtaas.com, and we may suspend an account that keeps faxing someone who asked it to stop.
dtaas.com is built for one-to-one faxes. We limit how many faxes an account can send and how many go to one number, and we may lower those limits. We also limit uploads, including file copies made when you use Send again or edit a prepared fax. Those copies count toward the daily upload limit.
2. Say who you are
Federal law (47 U.S.C. § 227(d)(1)(B) and 47 CFR § 68.318(d)) says a fax sent by computer must show the date and time, the name of the person or business sending it, and a telephone number, in the margin of every page or on the first page. We add the date, time and page. The name comes from you, and so can the number.
- Give a true name, yours or your business's.
- If you give a telephone number, it must be one where you can be reached, so a recipient can reply or ask you to stop. If you leave it blank, you don't need to add one yourself: the header shows your name followed by "via dtaas.com", with our number. For a name over 36 characters it reads "via dtaas", so your name is never cut short. You stay responsible for the fax, and we may pass a recipient's message on to you.
- Don't use someone else's name or number, or a made-up one, to mislead the recipient.
3. Other things you can't do
- Break any law, or send anything illegal to send.
- Threaten, harass or stalk anyone. Sending repeated faxes to a number to annoy or overload it counts.
- Send fraud, scams, phishing or anything that tries to trick people into giving up money or information.
- Send malware or anything meant to damage a device or network.
- Send content that sexually exploits children, or that breaks someone's intellectual property or privacy rights.
- Send to emergency services, to premium-rate numbers (such as 900 and 976), or to numbers that aren't fax lines.
- Resell the service, or offer fax sending to others using your account, without our written agreement.
- Try to get around our limits, security or billing, or use stolen or someone else's payment cards.
- Upload files that are meant to break our systems, or probe, scan or overload dtaas.com.
4. What we do
- We may refuse or stop a fax, block a number, set limits, suspend or close an account, or, while a dispute or suspected fraud is looked into, hold the credit involved as the Terms explain. The Refund Policy explains what happens to credit left on the account.
- We may look at a fax we have good reason to think breaks this policy.
- We will stop sending faxes to a number when its owner asks us to.
- We answer lawful requests from courts and regulators and may report illegal use. We don't have to warn you first when the law or the risk says otherwise.
5. Got a fax you didn't want?
If you received a fax sent through dtaas.com that you didn't ask for, tell us at abuse@dtaas.com. Please include your fax number, the date and time on the page, the sender's name and number from the header, and a copy of the first page if you can. We'll look into it, stop further faxes to your number and act on the sender's account. We reply within one business day (support is open Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 6 PM Eastern).
