What does a fax cost?

20¢ for each delivered page. The cover page, redials and the delivery receipt are free. There's no monthly fee.

What does "held" mean?

When you press Send, we hold the price (pages × 20¢) from your balance so it's there when the fax is delivered. It isn't charged yet, and you can't spend it on another fax. The money goes back when the final status is "Not delivered," "Delivery not confirmed" or "Canceled." While cancellation is only requested, it stays held. Your Wallet page shows it as Held until delivered.

When am I charged?

Once, only when the whole fax is delivered. If the final status is "Not delivered," "Delivery not confirmed" or "Canceled," the money held goes back to your balance and you pay $0.00. A cancellation request may not stop a call already under way. If that call delivers the whole fax, it is charged.

Am I ever charged for part of a fax?

No. If a call drops partway, we send the whole fax again at no cost. You're charged once, only when every page is through.

How do I add money?

Choose Add money on the Wallet page (or the button next to your balance). Pay by card through Stripe. The minimum is $10 and the most you can add at once is $500. We never see your card number.

Do I need an account?

Not for one fax. As a guest you prepare your fax and see the preview. Then we email you a link to confirm your email. After you open it, you pay by card ($10 minimum), we send your fax, and what isn't charged stays as credit on your account. Credit never expires. It ends only if the account is closed or we stop offering the service, or if your bank reverses the payment it came from. Opening the link starts an account you can use again with a sign-in link we email you.

How do I change my email address?

Write to help@dtaas.com from the address you use now and tell us the new one. Your email is how you sign in, so we confirm the change with you before we make it.

Can I get my money back?

Top-ups are final: credit isn't refundable and can't be cashed out, except where the law requires it. If a fax isn't delivered you pay nothing, and the money goes back to your credit. Credit never expires. It ends only if the account is closed or we stop offering the service, or if your bank reverses the payment it came from. We refund to your card in full only in these cases: we charged you by mistake (for a fax charge you can pick credit instead); you sent one fax as a guest, its final status is "Not delivered," "Delivery not confirmed" or "Canceled," and you haven't sent another fax or added other money (write within 30 days of paying and we refund what you paid); we change the terms for the worse and you don't accept it, and you write to us before the change starts (price changes aren't covered); or the law requires it. Write to billing@dtaas.com. See the Refund Policy.

What can I send?

PDF, Word, Excel, text files and photos (JPG, PNG, TIFF). Up to 20 MB and 50 pages per file.

Why has my preview expired?

A prepared preview expires after about 23 hours. An expired preview cannot be sent, and that refusal holds or charges nothing. Open the fax, choose Review and edit, then submit the form again to make a fresh preview. Review the new pages and price before sending. If your files are no longer available, upload them again.

Why did Send again or an edit reach my daily upload limit?

The daily upload limit counts file bytes uploaded or copied during the last 24 hours. Send again and edits that copy files into a new draft count too. Remaking an expired preview can also copy the files. Removing a file does not reset that usage. If the limit is reached, wait for older uploads and copies to leave that 24-hour window, then try again.

Which numbers can I send to?

US and Canada fax numbers. We can't send to Puerto Rico and other US territories, to other countries, or to 900 and 976 numbers.

What's the cover page?

An optional first page with who it's for, a subject and a short note. It's free and never adds to the price.

What goes at the top of each page?

The date and time, your name, your number and the page, like 10/30/2026 9:41 AM Acme Logistics, Inc. (954) 555-0198 p.1 of 7. If you leave your number blank, the header says "your name via dtaas.com", with our number. The time is when the fax is sent.

Can I leave my number off?

Yes. Your name always prints, because fax rules ask senders to identify themselves. Your number is optional. If you leave it blank, we send from dtaas.com's number, and the header says "your name via dtaas.com". If you want people to reach you, put a phone number in the fax itself, like on the cover page or the first page. Please use your real number.

Can I get replies by fax?

Yes, to your own fax number. Put it in the header and replies go straight to you. dtaas.com can't receive faxes, so if you leave your number blank, a fax sent back to the number in the header won't reach you.

Can I send ads or mass faxes?

No. Unsolicited advertising faxes are against the law and against our rules. Read the acceptable use page.

Can I cancel a fax?

You can ask to cancel before the first page starts sending or while we wait to redial. Once the fax line has the fax, cancellation takes effect when the line confirms it. "Cancel requested" means the money is still held. A call already under way may still deliver the whole fax and be charged. When the status is "Canceled," the money goes back and you pay $0.00. Some pages from an earlier interrupted call may already have arrived. While pages are going out, cancellation is unavailable.

Can I send more than one fax at a time?

Two faxes can be going out at once per account. If two are already going out, the next one waits for you to send it when one finishes. Nothing extra is charged.

What happens if the line is busy or nobody answers?

We redial, for free, until our retry window (up to 6 hours) or attempt limit runs out. You can watch every try on your fax. If we still can't get through, it's Not delivered and you pay $0.00.

What if the call drops partway through?

We send the whole fax again, free, so the other side gets one complete copy. They may see a few extra pages from the dropped try.

What does "Not delivered" mean?

We couldn't get the whole fax through. You aren't charged. Your fax page says why (for example, no fax machine answered) and lets you send again.

What does "Delivery not confirmed" mean?

We did not get a final result, so the fax may already have arrived. You are not charged, and we do not resend it automatically. Check with the recipient before sending again. To use Send again, tick "I checked with the recipient and it didn't arrive" after making that check. Sending again starts a new fax, charged only if the whole fax is delivered. Email help@dtaas.com with the fax number and time if you need help.

How long does a fax take?

It depends on the page count and on the other machine. You'll see each try live. We always email you the delivery receipt when it's delivered, and we email you if it's not delivered when you've turned on email alerts.

Why is my fax still sending with no updates?

The fax line may be delayed, or we may be checking a fax whose progress has stopped updating. Its money stays held while it is still in progress. If the engine loses track of it, an administrator may close it with no charge after more than seven hours without updates. This is not automatic and may take longer. The status then shows "Delivery not confirmed," and the money held goes back to your balance. Check with the recipient before sending again.

What's the delivery receipt?

A one-page record for every delivered fax: who it went to, who it's from, the pages, when it was delivered, what you were charged and a fingerprint (SHA-256) of the pages as we sent them. It's free and stays on your Faxes page.

How does someone verify a receipt?

Go to dtaas.com/verify and enter the receipt code, or scan the QR code on the receipt. You can also paste the fingerprint, but you don't have to. We show whether the receipt is real, the date it was delivered and the page count, so you can check them against what you received. We don't show the number it went to, and we can't tell you what the document says.

Where is my receipt?

Open the fax on your Faxes page and choose Download receipt. We also email it to you when the fax is delivered, even if your other email alerts are off.

How long do you keep my files?

Uploaded files and the fax images are deleted 30 days after the fax ends. Your delivery receipts stay with your account.

Can I delete my account?

Yes, from Settings. Any credit left on the account is given up when you delete it, and the same goes if you ask us to delete it. It isn't refunded, so use it first. Deleted by mistake? Write to billing@dtaas.com within 14 days and we restore the credit.

What happens to my credit if you close my account or stop the service?

If we close your account for breaking our rules, suspected fraud or a legal requirement, the credit left on it is given up. For any other reason, or if we stop the service, we email you at least 30 days before, unless the law or a company we depend on makes us stop sooner. In that case we tell you as soon as we can. You can keep sending faxes with your credit until then, and we stop taking top-ups when we send that email. Credit left when the account closes is given up. If we closed your account over suspected fraud and were wrong, we restore the credit.
